Reading and Writing
1. Strengthen the linkage between reading and writing
Develop school-based teaching materials which integrate the reading text
and the writing task. Strategies include genre-based teaching
(awareness of different genres), developing vocabulary word banks,
introducing pre-writing tasks, and adopting diversified modes of
assessments in writing (e.g. peer evaluations and self evaluations).
2. Enriching students' exposure to authentic reading texts
• Adopt readers from Oxford Story Tree and Longman for intensive
teaching in English lessons.
• Using the online reading platform called Raz-kids for P. 3 and
assign different grades for them, which provide a huge pool of resources for extensive reading.
• Promote buddy reading: English ambassadors will go to the P. 1 and P. 2 classrooms
and read story books with the lower primary students.
3. Encouraging creative writing with the aid of E-learning tools
• Encourage students to do free writing in the form of either comic strips
or diaries and upload their products to online platform for public sharing.
• Use Google platform to let students do group writing.
